Harm Reduction
BADAS will not tell anybody that they ought to stop using drugs or alcohol. If someone wants to stop we are glad to help them in any way possible, but if they do not, we will work with them to ensure that, whatever they are taking, they do as little harm as possible.
Harm Reduction at BADAS is not limited to keeping our service users safe. We try to ensure that they do not put anybody at unnecessary risk; themselves, those close to them, and society at large.
In our Needle and Syringe Exchange services, we not only promote safer injecting techniques and provide clean needles and syringes, but also insist that the equipment we give out is safely returned to us for disposal, thus avoiding risk to other drug users and the general public. We also discuss the dangers of mixing substances and driving while under the influence, and we promote safer sex.
